The addition of the multitalented being known as Phonte Coleman, front man for The Foreign Exchange, elevated this track with his flow and harmonies, which were oh so lovely, oh so lovely (in my Cream Corn voice).

I have a fetish for being turned on to new artist. So when Christopher Turner (if you don’t know about him you need to get on that now) posted this joint on Facebook with the lovely note to “not sleep” I wiped the crust out of my eyes and gave ERIMAJ a listen. Tuner’s voice rides the mid-tempo jazz track as the thump of an upright bass creates a beautiful atmosphere and pace which was the perfect listen for a Sunday morning.

To be honest, I can’t remember the first time I heard Chicago native, Chantae Cann’s voice. What I do know is that Cann’s duet with Phonte of The Foreign Exchange pulled an extra heartstring for me on the track “Laughing At Your Plans” on the The Foreign Exchange’s third release, “Authenticity.” Needless to say, when a vocalist does that to me I start searching for everything they’ve put out. My love affair with Ms. King’s music, like most of the world, started when she dropped East Side Story. While everyone else (I knew) was falling in love with the song “U&I,” I was gettin’ my rock on to “Never Be Lonely,” which still gets major love from me to this day. I’ve personally been waiting for this EP to drop because catching Youtube clips of her doing acoustic or live show sets wasn’t enough for me anyone. (Pressing the replay button on Youtube is not the look) I needed something more accessible and permanent like an album or something.
